Eat, Shop, Bank Local: Clinton Chiropractic Center
December 20, 2024
At First National Bank and Trust Company, we believe that a community is only as strong as its local businesses. This is why we have highlighted exceptional local businesses as part of our Eat, Shop, Bank Local blog series. Recently, we have featured Stephanie Cluver owner Clinton Chiropractic Center of Clinton, IL.
Story behind the owner of the business?
For Stephanie, a career in health care was always in the cards—she just didn’t know which path she might take.
"I had been going to a chiropractor since I was a kid, but it wasn’t until a Christmas break conversation during college that the idea of chiropractic school clicked," Stephanie said. "My chiropractor, who I’d known my whole life, encouraged me to consider it—and I thought, ‘Why didn’t I think of this before?!’”
Already majoring in biology, Stephanie adjusted her plans and completed four years of undergraduate studies, followed by three years of chiropractic school. After graduating in April 2000, she came full circle by joining the practice of the very chiropractor who inspired her. By 2004, she had taken the reins and has been running the practice solo ever since. Today, her thriving clinic includes an associate doctor and celebrates an impressive 25 years of service to the Clinton community.
Tell us a little bit about your business?
Clinton Chiropractic Center is a family wellness practice providing care for patients of all ages—from newborns to senior citizens.
The organization focuses on corrective care that changes spinal structure and function. Plus, they also offer supplements and accommodate patients’ busy lives with early morning hours.
What advice would you give to other people interested in starting their own business?
"Spend time learning from others in your field. Immerse yourself in the culture, shadow professionals, and seek mentorship,” she shared. “For me, Dr. Allen, my mentor, taught me more about running a business than chiropractic school ever could.”
She also emphasizes the importance of adapting naturally: "I never saw myself as an entrepreneur, but my career path progressed that way. Be open to the opportunities that come your way.”
Where do you want to be in five years?
For the center, there is a potential for satellite offices. For Stephanie personally, she would like to transition into a less hands-on role while mentoring the next generation of chiropractors.
What factors influenced your decision to choose our bank?
"I’ve worked with the bank for both my personal and business banking. I love the hometown feel, the local leadership, and the relationships I’ve built with people like Lance and Josh," she shared. "First National Bank and Trust Company has the best of both worlds: the resources of a bigger bank with the community vibe of a local one.”
She also highlighted tools like DocuSign and online banking, which make managing her business finances easy and efficient.
Can you share any specific examples how one of our bank's services helped your business grow, overcome challenges, or bring a solution to a specific need?
First National Bank and Trust Company has been instrumental in helping Stephanie’s business grow. "Lance has made the process for securing my line of credit seamless," Stephanie explained. "He provided me with options that made everything possible. It’s been so easy working with him!”
Can you share any experiences or benefits you've observed from our bank's community involvement?
“The REV program advocating for small businesses has been truly transformational,” Stephanie shared. “Josh Shofner encouraged me to apply, and I’m so glad I did! The grant helped me invest in a joint stimulator tool that I now use daily. It’s a game-changer for patients who need conservative care, like newborns or seniors with osteoporosis."
