$1,000 Gift to Honor 35 Years of Service
December 15, 2021
Today, we honor a very familiar face at First National Bank and Trust Company who recently celebrated a big milestone. Lou Mollet, personal banker, is celebrating 35 years of service. In addition to an individual tenure gift, employees who serve more than 30 years with the bank receive $1,000 to donate to a charity of their choice, a donation that is made in their honor. Lou has chosen St. Patrick’s Parish; an organization close to her heart and soul.
St. Patrick Parish was founded in 1853 and has rich history in the area. The first church building was put up in 1857 and today still continues to thrive, serve and minister to the community.
Lou shared, “St. Patrick’s Parish was my late husband’s home parish growing up, and it has also been my family’s parish for over 54 years. All of my children were baptized there and it really feels like an extension of our family.”
Growing up in the Wapella area, Lou’s relationship with First National Bank and Trust Company began early. She had banked at First National Bank for many years previous to working there and started with the bank in 1986. The bank and the employees have always been a part of her community and has played a big role in her life. When Lou’s late husband passed, the employees and the clients were there for her – another extension of family.
She started as a teller/client service representative and then moved to opening accounts and handed loan documentation as well. One unique job Lou had during her time at the bank was taking care of license stickers, as the bank at one time sold and ordered license stickers for trucks. “There is always something fast paced and enjoyable. I really enjoy meeting many new people,” added Lou.
Lou’s most favorite memories of her banking career include receiving pictures children have drawn and given to her over the years. And, the best part of the story – Lou keeps them all!
“A few years ago a young man came in and we were talking, and I told him I had pictures he had drawn me. We looked at them, and he couldn’t believe I had kept them after all those years. Many of these young people are now clients. It has been my pleasure to watch them grow up and be lucky enough to be invited to their weddings.”
Bringing the ‘personal’ banker to the personal banker role, comes naturally to Lou and evident in the longevity of her relationships. It is for certain, many have benefitted from the commitment and friendship of Lou. Again, a special thank you to Lou for her many years of dedication and service.
