We sat down with Josh to ask about his role, experiences and interests—here’s what he had to say! Read the full Q&A here.
Personal & Professional Background
What inspired you to pursue a career in banking?
I began my banking career in college, drawn by the flexible hours that fit my class schedule. What truly hooked me was the opportunity to work at my hometown bank. Providing banking and financing needs for my community members helped me realize what we do in banking matters.
What’s the most memorable client interaction you’ve ever had?
Some of my most memorable interactions are shaking the hand of a new homeowner and seeing the smile on their face when they have achieved that goal in their life.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone applying for a loan, what would it be?
Find a banker you know and trust - one that cares more about your financial health than just closing a loan.
What’s a common myth about banking or lending that you’d like to debunk?
Many people always want to know the payment. The payment matters but always find out what will be the total cost of the loan. Sometimes hearing that number will change your mind on what can be made for payments.
What skills or qualities do you think make someone successful in your role?
In order to be a successful community banker, you must listen and genuinely care. Some clients may not qualify for a loan at a particular time, but it’s rewarding when they return because I took the time to explain why and guide them on how to improve their financial position for the future.
Beyond Banking
If you weren’t in banking, what would your dream job be?
I truly enjoy working with youth and much of my time is spent volunteer coaching. I've also been able to visit classrooms to discuss banking, financing and budgets. Watching and helping kids grow is very rewarding and makes for fun interactions later in life with those individuals.
What is one thing you never leave the house without and why?
My wedding ring because I am one VERY lucky and spoiled person. My spouse, Kaycee, is the absolute rock of our family. How she manages three active boys (four if you count me) is unbelievable! She is the most selfless person I have ever known. Not only my family, but the community is lucky to have her.
What does a typical Sunday afternoon look like for you?
After church, we will typically head up to the Wanek Center to either shoot hoops, hit balls or just exercise.

Personal Interests & Hobbies
Current boards or volunteering you do and why you choose to get involved with those organizations?
I am a proud member of the Arcadia Youth Association. This organization was formed by area parents and community members to keep softball and baseball alive in our community. I'm proud to say the organization is thriving and has some great volunteer members that truly believe in our mission. I am also part of the Holy Family Catholic School Finance committee. I attended Holy Family (formerly known as Arcadia Catholic School) all eight years of grade school and now my children do as well. Both my wife and I believe strongly in our faith and creating that strong base for our children.
What’s a dream destination you’d love to travel to?
Kaycee and I would like to visit all major league ballparks.
If you could recommend one book or movie that influenced you, what would it be?
The Shack. It's a tough movie for parents to watch but definitely makes an impact.
What’s your favorite local small business to support and why?
There are so many great community-minded small businesses, but a few stand out. I grew up at the Arcadia Country Club and even served on the board. While I don’t golf as much as I used to, the staff and board truly embody the spirit of community. I also attend a lot of sporting events and like to mix up my game-day attire, which is why I frequently shop at Edge Graphics. They’ve kept my wardrobe fresh for years! Kole and Melissa are incredibly community-driven, always finding ways to give back.
Anything else you’d like to add?
At our last Annual Chamber Meeting, the president of the committee, Jessi Ebbens, took time to recognize our community and how excited she was to be a part of it. She didn't grow up in our area, but it hasn't taken long for her to recognize how special it is here and recognize the dedicated community members we have. It was a great reminder of how proud I am to be part of our community!
